Ms. Karen Egonis is currently an Associate Attorney at Liu & Associates, practicing exclusively immigration
and nationality law.

Prior to joining Liu & Associates, Ms. Egonis worked as a pubic defender in New Hampshire, representing
indigent clients charged with misdemeanors, felonies, and juvenile delinquency in criminal and family
courts.  She later expanded her practice to include family, landlord/tenant, and immigration law.

In law school, Ms. Egonis took an avid interest in immigration issues. She served in the law center’s
immigration clinic, where she successfully argued for asylum for a Cameroonian client in Immigration
Court. Ms. Egonis served as an intern at Tahirih Justice Center in Falls Church, Virginia, where she
worked with immigrant women feeling human rights violations. Ms. Egonis also explored the area of public
interest law, participating in the law center’s pro bono volunteer initiative, working with the Texas
Innocence Network to investigate claims of actual innocence in capital cases, and serving as a public
interest fellow at the United Nations International Labour Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Egonis worked as a technical writer and editor, drafting materials and
managing documentation efforts for various multinational companies.
